We have some big news! In 2030, the golf world will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of Bobby Jones’ Grand Slam win by playing at Merion again.
The U.S.G.A. has officially announced Merion Golf Club will be hosting the 2030 U.S. Open in honor of Bobby’s historic Grand Slam win there on September 27, 1930. It’s at Merion where he won his fourth major of the year and marched into history - and then at the age of 28 retired from competitive golf to become an entrepreneur, attorney, writer, and of course, founder of Augusta National Golf Club and The Masters.
The speculation is the other three other courses he won majors at in 1930 – St. Andrews, Royal Liverpool, and Interlachen - may be hosting an Open or Amateur to celebrate his historic achievement too. Can you imagine how great for golf it will be if this happens as well?
Between now and 2030 it will be a wonderful time to be a Bobby Jones Links club. As the excitement builds, we will be scheduling adventures for our club members and customers to enjoy Bobby’s favorite courses in Scotland and in the U.S., playing inter-club matches and inviting them to participate in special events, tournaments, and parties to celebrate with us.
Whether you are a golfer who loves Bobby Jones, or a current or prospective client, please join us in this adventurous march to the 100th anniversary celebration of the Grand Slam. We promise the next nine years will really be fun.
