Meet Katie Lentine | Support Center, Bobby Jones Links

1. When did you join Bobby Jones Links and why?

I joined the Bobby Jones Links family in October 2019 – not too long ago! My background is in brand management, specifically in the sports industry – golf and colleges/universities – and I have a passion for effective marketing and communication strategies. I love learning about the different communities and markets our clubs serve and the different niches they occupy.

2. Where did you grow up? Tell us about it.

I grew up in a small town called Raymond, Maine. My two brothers and I spent our summers on the lake and winters on the ski slopes. After high school, I left Maine in search of a warmer climate and found myself at Roanoke College, a small liberal arts college in Roanoke, Virginia where I was a member of the women’s soccer team. My family now lives in Florida but I try to make it back to Maine to visit at least once a year – there is a certain, special pace of life in New England.

3. What are your passions outside of work?

I’ve always been an active person and since moving to Atlanta over four years ago, running became way to explore the city and stay healthy. I ran the Publix Atlanta half marathon in March 2018 and then decided to continue training and ran the San Francisco marathon a few months later! My next marathon was supposed to be later this month, but that was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic – so I’ll have to keep you posted on what’s next. I also love to try new coffee shops, restaurants, craft cocktails, and local breweries (which is exactly why I continue to run as much as I do!).

4. What do you enjoy most about the club business?

I’d call myself a newbie to the club business but what I’m enjoying the most so far is the sense of community at each of our clubs and courses – among members, guests, regulars, newbies, associates, everybody! I admit, that golf can be an intimidating sport to play (coming from someone who didn’t grow up playing it, but loves to watch it!) but there’s an unique lifestyle element for everyone to enjoy.

5. Who inspires you in your life and why?

Bob Goff, an author, motivational speaker, and philanthropist is someone who I find very motivating and inspirational. His faith-based perspective and approach to life is captured in his books and podcasts – fun to read and listen to. He’s all about dreaming big and spreading love and his messages and stories are relatable to so many situations- in daily life, in business, really everywhere.

6. What’s the craziest thing you have ever done?

Craziest thing…that’s a hard one! My risk-tolerance is rather low in the grand scheme of things. One day in 4th grade, I cut off 12+ inches of hair to donate to Locks of Love – does that count!?

8. What is your favorite movie? Why?

I’m not a big movie person. I tend to fall asleep almost 90% of the time even when I don’t mean to. Oops! But with that being said, The Greatest Showman is definitely in my Top 3 favorite list. The production, the costumes, the soundtrack (especially the soundtrack), the story – it’s all amazing.

9. If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?

Superpower. Hm. Here’s my easy answer: I’d love to be able to fly/transport so I could avoid the traffic on my commute to the office. Here’s my real answer, though: I’d love to be able to press pause on time every once in a while. Whether it’s so I could catch up on my to-do list, or just so I could savor the world around me for a few extra moments. Life moves fast these days!

10. What’s still on your bucket list?

I love to travel and visiting every National Park in the United States is currently on my list. I’ve checked off 9 or 10 so far, only 51 more to go! Longer term, seeing the the Northern Lights is definitely a bucket list dream!

11. If you could eat any food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Without asking too many qualifying questions, my quick answer would be cookies. Warm chocolate chip (but I’m not picky on flavors) with a little scoop of ice cream, please!
