"Trends in what people need from their local club tend to be really market-specific," she says. “The desire to connect with other people in your demographic with similar interests is evident all over the country. In more than 20 years in this business, I've never seen people so familiar and comfortable with the private club concept. You’re not educating or selling them on the club, you’re more demonstrating how your club is the best fit for how their family lives and thrives,” Buchanan said.

“It’s all about the members,” Whitlock says. “When they start seeking elevated dining, we begin running specials. If we start selling a bunch of steaks, then it's time to make a (more permanent) change. So it's essentially member-driven. We really have to know our clients and community.”

“Atlanta golf participation has increased tremendously in the past five years,” says Dunovant. “That brought new golfers to the game, which obviously helped bring players and revenue to our facility. This new clubhouse will not only change John A. White, but the whole west end side of Atlanta. It's going to become a destination where people can play a great nine-hole course, enjoy a great meal after the round, or host functions, and our inductions into the National Black Golf Hall of Fame, where we will have space for up to 200 guests. We're looking forward to that.

“This is a truly special and personal project for me,” said Whitney Crouse, CEO and Co-Founder of Bobby Jones Links. “I learned to play golf at Delray Beach Golf Club when visiting my grandparents as a kid. My first swings were on this historic municipal course. Now, to be part of the team overseeing its rebirth means even more to me.”

"They’re beating the door down to get in, and I have a wait list for Jr. League and other programs, too," he said. "We do it because the parents want it. The kids want it, and it’s a great program. And the few courses that do it are full and can only do so much. It’s going to take more than just Bobby Jones Golf Course to serve all these kids."

“Our staff from top to bottom goes above and beyond, so I won’t say I was surprised, but at the same time, I was surprised when I got the email,” said Jeff Crabbe, general manager at Woodlake Country Club, which has been open for a little more than two years after a complete renovation. “It was validation of the hard work that the staff puts in every day.”

“Every year, we amend the coursework,” says Allyson Kahl Darling, vice president of experiences at BJL, who leads the program. “It is important that we keep technological advancements such as AI and industry trends at the forefront of each year's curriculum.”

“For all of us, we viewed it as an opportunity to showcase our facility,” Carey said. “And it was a long few days for the staff. But this is why we get into this business. All the stars aligned for us to pull this off – golf course conditions, logistics, feeding them, etc. It really went well. I was proud of our team.”

with a few minor projects remaining, Forest Hills is thriving again. “The entire team pulled together to get the job done,” says Joshua Deal, Vice President of Operations at Bobby Jones Links, and President of the Georgia Section PGA of America. “It was a collaborative effort. First and foremost, the team at the facility immediately got in contractors to assess the damage, particularly with the tree cleanup. That was the biggest hurdle and to make sure we could eventually reopen to members and guests when it was safe. Priority One was cleaning up debris, hangers and widow makers that were all over the course. Then we could turn our attention to the outlying areas and aesthetics. As you can imagine, the cleanup in those areas surrounding the course was about a six-month process.”
