Building or renewing a golf course is one of the most exhilarating “adventures” in our business. There is a unique thrill in watching 175 acres of land transform into a world-class facility, one brick and one bushel of Bermuda sprigs at a time.
At Bobby Jones Links, our leadership team has overseen or assisted in more than $400 million in new golf course and clubhouse construction and renovation. Most recently, this includes the "rebirth" of the historic Bobby Jones Golf Course in Atlanta, The Patch Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia, and The Gate Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

Despite our extensive experience working with the world’s top architects and contractors, we consistently encounter the same two universal truths:
1. It Almost Always Takes Longer Than You Think
2. It Almost Always Costs More Than You Think
You might say this is poor planning. But, in golf course and clubhouse development, there are many variables and unknowns out of one’s control, particularly when the work is spread across 150 to 200 acres. Some classic offenders are adverse weather, uncovered artifacts, unexpected rock, erosion control issues, approval delays, arbitrary inspectors, storm washouts, environmental issues, and turf diseases.

The key to a successful project isn't avoiding these risks—it’s planning for them from day one.
Navigating these unknowns is always worth the effort. After all, what could be more rewarding than seeing a new golf course or clubhouse come to life?
