“We said, ‘What’s our biggest gap and how can we differentiate ourselves from other management companies, whether big or small?’” Patankar says. “We all landed on the fact that one thing the industry says it does really well, but it really struggles with, is customer service.”

“They’ve been kind of a shining light,’’ said Kratzer, who liked the Finn Scooters so much as now has a fleet of 12. “We had some naysayers and some members who weren’t happy and others who thought it was a cool idea. But (the scooters) go out every day in the morning and again in the afternoon. Even some of our older members and ladies have taken them out and love them.’’

“What a great cause to play for, obviously there’s a lot of charity golf tournaments in our area, but to have the funds going directly to education for Bay County golfers who are juniors, it’s awesome,” Mulvey said.

"We are proud to help raise money for scholarships for children and spouses of our fallen and disabled service members," said Bay Point General Manager, Ryan Mulvey.

I rejoined a club that had done a complete 180, filled with new energy and enthusiasm with a bright future ahead. It started with a shift to be more attractive to the local residents versus tourists, giving them more reasons to visit the club.

“The tournament is over,” said Mulvey. “It was a huge success. Just super proud of all my team here at Bay Point, the food and beverage staff, the course and grounds staff, Gavin and Courtney our golf staff. They put on a first class tournament. The course was in great shape. The food was fantastic, so a lot of work goes in to these things. When it all comes together and is as successful as this one was, it just gets you pumped up and ready to do another one. Couldn’t be more proud of the team here at Bay Point.”

“He’s very funny. I think that comes with just knowing exactly who you are,” she said. “We were working on a golf course near a public walkway. People would stop by to look because it’s Charles Barkley and he’s hard to miss. He’s like six foot four. If he noticed they were watching he’d yell 'hey, how’s your day going over there?' and crack jokes with them. It was really sweet.
