ANNOUNCING FIRE MAKER’S CALAMITY JANE - A BEER FOR GOLFERS

ATLANTA, GA, May 27 – Fire Maker Brewing is thrilled to announce Calamity Jane, a light beer made by golfers, for golfers, and dubbed by its creators “The Beer of Golf.”

Calamity Jane Light Beer is named after the famous putter that golf legend, Bobby Jones’ used to win 13 major championships including the Grand Slam in 1930 (the only person in golf history to win all four majors in one year.)

Light-bodied and easy to drink, Calamity Jane beer features a slight sweetness and an ABV of 4.2% and only 90 calories per serving. With balance and refreshment in every sip, the beer is perfect for a sunny day on the golf course or while unwinding after a round.

Fire Maker’s brand and mission is to make beer for people who are ambitious go-getters with character. They create the beer people have while working on their goals and that they drink when achieving them. Bobby Jones had degrees from Georgia Tech, Harvard, and Emory; spoke multiple languages, developed the first steel-shafted golf clubs, founded Augusta National Golf Club and The Masters, and owned multiple Coca-Cola bottling plants. Bobby Jones exemplified ambition and character, so when Fire Maker was developing a ‘beer for golf’, he was the obvious perfect match.

Furthermore, Bobby Jones was a pillar of the Atlanta business community. Fire Maker Brewing is a small but growing brewery and beverage company, that was founded and is based in the heart of Atlanta; built by a family of local entrepreneurs who are also life-long golfers. Bobby Jones was on the board of Coca-Cola, one of the largest beverage companies, which is also based out of Atlanta.

“I come from a family of avid golfers,” says Elliott Hall, CEO/Co-Owner of Fire Maker Brewing Company, and Vice President of the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild, “Calamity Jane is a perfect addition to any day on the links.”

Fire Maker strives to honor Bobby Jones’ ambitious legacy with Calamity Jane beer. It was originally created two years ago and served at the Bobby Jones Golf Course in Atlanta, GA; but Fire Maker has been working with Whitney Crouse, Co-founder of Bobby Jones Links (a company that manages 32 golf courses) to make it available to the entire Bobby Jones Golf Links’ portfolio of courses.

As Calamity Jane’s popularity grows, Fire Maker plans to have it available in all golf and country clubs in Georgia. Currently, it’s available in Fire Maker's taproom and in limited quantities in the Atlanta market.

“Bobby Jones was one of the most famous people in golf. His legacy has endured for over 100 years,” said Whitney Crouse, Co-Founder of Bobby Jones Links. “Having a beer named after his famous putter and honoring his achievements is brilliant and will be lots of fun.”
