Cobblestone Golf Course Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Public Course Hosts Oct. 1 Event to Commemorate Long History of Serving the Metro Atlanta Area

ACWORTH, GA (Sept. 13, 2023) – Cobblestone Golf Course, a long-time favorite course of metro Atlanta golfers, is excited to celebrate its 30th anniversary as one of the most welcoming public courses in the North Atlanta area.

Originally opened as “The Boulders” on Oct. 1, 1993, and renamed in 1996, Cobblestone Golf Course is owned by Cobb County and operated by Bobby Jones Links. Cobblestone offers Champion Bermuda greens, white-sand bunkers, and lakefront views of Lake Acworth. The course was designed by Ken Dye and renovated in 2010, with further renovations taking place in 2021 to expand the clubhouse and construct new practice areas.

“We are honored to be celebrating 30 years of Cobblestone,” said Paul Carey, General Manager of Cobblestone Golf Course. “It’s amazing to witness how popular the course remains after 30 years, which in large part is due to maintaining its status as a true public golf course since the beginning. It’s been a privilege to serve the guests of Cobb County and metro Atlanta for this long.”

To commemorate the 30th anniversary, Cobblestone Golf Course will host a four-person scramble on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023 for Cobb Card holders, participants of Cobblestone Golf Course’s loyalty program. Registration for the tournament costs $125 per player and is expected to fill up fast. The celebratory event will include all aspects of golf along with food and beverages and commemorative 30th anniversary merchandise available in the pro shop. To sign up for the event, stop by the golf course or email Mike Wooditch, Head Golf Professional, at mike.wooditch@cobblestonegolf.com.

Cobblestone Golf Course has been awarded a number of accolades over the years. Some of these include a four-star rating by Golf Digest, a spot on the “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” list by Golf Magazine, and most recently, an inclusion in GolfPass’ list of the “Top 100 Walkable Golf Courses in America.” Cobblestone has also been the host of major events, including the Bell South Open Qualifier and the U.S. Mid-am Championship Qualifier.

Cobblestone has been managed by Bobby Jones Links for the last 20 of its 30 years and has continued to see consistent growth throughout; July of this year was the busiest month in the history of the golf course. The course has seen an influx in the number of younger golfers recently – largely due to the implementation of the PGA Junior Program and Youth on Course – and is looking forward to continued success this year and beyond.

Cobblestone Golf Course is locally managed in partnership with Bobby Jones Links. For additional information, please visit https://www.cobblestonegolf.com/.
