Hope Valley Country Club Finishes Enhancements to the Dover Dining Room

Durham country club finishes renovations to The Dover dining venue, plans for additional dining enhancements

DURHAM, NC  – Durham’s member-owned private golf club, Hope Valley Country Club, has completed renovations on The Dover, one of the club’s most popular dining venues. The renovations, which are a part of a bigger series of enhancements to the clubhouse announced last year, began in July of 2020, with construction efforts led by Partners in Construction.

The Dover has been transformed into an upscale dining destination, perfect for date nights and special occasions. Members and their guests can enjoy a sophisticated and refined dining experience, including fresh seafood, quality produce, inventive cuisine and craft cocktails. Another exciting feature of The Dover dining experience is the opportunity to join the wine club. By purchasing a private wine locker to store their personal collection, members can join this club and gain access to exclusive events and preferred pricing on special-order wines. The Dover is primarily geared towards adults, but while other dining options are being renovated, families with kids are welcome at certain meals.

“We take great pride in thinking about the long-term future of the club and have developed an extensive capital plan involving continuous renovation and development of all of the club amenities,” said Dr. Bennet Waters, President of the Board at Hope Valley Country Club. “While we’ve been around for nearly 100 years, it’s important we continue to progress and reinvent the club offerings to appeal to the aging membership, the younger membership we see joining, and the member of tomorrow.”

The Ross, another dining option at Hope Valley Country Club, also recently got an upgrade, including an updated look with refreshed paint, new flooring, and doors that open out to the event lawn. The Ross is a casual bar area that currently primarily serves golfers as they make the turn, but the club intends to make it a 21+ lounge area in the future. In addition to these enhancements, minor updates were made to the entryway and hallways of the clubhouse.

Renovations at Hope Calley Country Club will continue with a new dining area called The Valley. This dining option will be a more casual, family-friendly gathering space.

Additionally, the country club has brought on Mauricio Basurco as the Food and Beverage Director. Basurco was most recently the Manager at the Mayton Inn but has years of club experience at Paramount Country Club in New York and the Park Avenue Club in New Jersey. Travis Dickerson has been promoted to Clubhouse Manager and will oversee all catering as well as clubhouse and pool operations.

Hope Valley Country Club is a member-owned private club located in Durham that offers premium experiences around dining, golf, tennis, swimming, youth programs and a diverse year-round calendar of social events. Its championship Donald Ross golf course was included in Golfweek’s “Top 200 Golf Course in 2020” for classic courses.

Hope Valley Country Club is locally managed in partnership with Bobby Jones Links, based in Alpharetta, GA. For additional information on the community and membership opportunities, please visit https://www.hvcc.org/.
